WIRELESS SOLUTION A

(Connecting a second computer to allow sharing of the same service)

The main computer acts a host for the wireless transceiver/interface card. The system is designed to allow you to "share" the same Internet service with another computer within your home.* The main computer must have at least a 133Mhz processor running MS Windows 98SE, ME, Windows 2000 or Windows XP operating system. Regardless of the OS, each computer must have all original operating system installation media, updates and patches.

This solution is only recommended for use with two computers. If you have more than two computers, we recommend you implement our Shared Circuit Solution found at http://www.forbin.net/wireless/sharedCircuitH.asp

Configuration of the Main computer: The first step is to remove the computer case and install the Forbin wireless transceiver/interface card. If your computer does not have an existing Ethernet card, the next step is to attach the Ethernet network adapter to an existing USB port on your computer. The adapters sell for $39.95 each; two will be needed. If the Cat5 wiring is already in place, the installation and configuration of the Ethernet card or adapter for the main computer is included in the initial service start up cost.

Connecting the 2nd computer to the Main computer: The second computer also requires an Ethernet Interface card or adapter and one of the pre-mentioned operating systems. The actual configuration time (assuming the cable is installed and we don't encounter and unforeseen problems during the installing) will take approximately 30 minutes, billed at a rate of $125.00 per hour. The charges will start from the time we leave our office and arrive on site.

TECHNICAL SUPPORT POLICY:  Technical support is available by calling 319-274-4430.  A Forbin Networking Support Technician will ask if you can log onto the Internet from the host computer.  If you can, the problem is either with the operating software or possibly a hardware problem in the second computer.  The Forbin Technician will review your service options and offer a solution.

Note: Recommended for only two computers.  If you want to connect more that two, please refer to our “Small Office Solution” under the Shared Circuit Solution.
